In an exciting finish, the Lecanto High School boys’ soccer team went head to head against Springstead High School Nov. 30, ending the games 1-0 for junior varsity and 0-1 for varsity.

“They’re all doing well and getting better every game,” said head coach Doug Warren.

Lecanto’s undefeated  junior varsity team showed excellent teamwork and determination to take home another win.

Shooting past Springstead’s defense, sophomore Rio Lumapas scored Lecanto’s winning and only goal of the game. Lecanto managed to hang on to their paper-thin lead the rest of the game, leaving them once again undefeated awaiting their next opponent.

“The junior varsity boys dominated the majority of the game,” assistant coach Paul Heinze.

many attempts at a goal.

Lecanto’s determination was strong, but Springstead’s was stronger. In the end, Springstead slyly slipped past Lecanto’s defense and scored a goal right out of senior keeper John Stacey’s reach.

“The season is going good, but we have our flaws,” said senior Joey Serrano.
